Barcelona is a cosmopolitan city, famous for its modernist architecture with the works of Antoni Gaudí.
During the Middle Ages, it became an important economic and political centre in the Mediterranean. During the 19th century, the city underwent a transformation with Catalan modernism (Gaudi).
Barcelona has it all: beaches, delicious gastronomy, rich history in the Gothic Quarter, lively nightlife, cultural events throughout the year... An ideal destination to live a complete and unforgettable experience in just a few days.
When should you visit Barcelona?
You are thinking of renting an apartment in Barcelona for a few days and you would like to know what is the best time of the year. Here are our recommendations:
- Spring: beginning of the high season, pleasant weather. Easter events.
- Summer: very touristic and hot, sunny days, festivals. Lively nightlife.
- Autumn: less tourists but risk of rain. Good weather.
- Winter: lower temperatures and some rain. Fewer tourists and lower prices.
It all depends on your expectations and wishes.
What to do in Barcelona for 3 days?
- Day 1: In the morning, visit the Sagrada Familia, an iconic monument of Barcelona and then stroll through the narrow streets of the Gothic Quarter (Barcelona Cathedral). In the afternoon, enjoy a stroll along Las Ramblas, a very famous avenue and explore the neighbourhood of El Born. Don't miss the Basilica of Santa Maria del Mar and the Parc de la Ciutadella. To end the day, have dinner at one of the waterfront restaurants in the Olympic Port.
- Day 2: In the morning, visit the Gaudí-designed Casa Batlló and La Pedrera on Passeig de Gràcia and discover the Picasso Museum in the El Born neighbourhood. In the afternoon, stroll through Parc Güell, also designed by Gaudí, and enjoy panoramic views of the city. For tapas for dinner, head to the Raval neighbourhood.
- Day 3: In the morning, climb Montjuïc hill to enjoy its gardens, Montjuïc Castle and the breathtaking views of the city. If you have time, visit the Joan Miró Foundation museum. In the afternoon, relax on Barceloneta beach and stroll along the renovated port and visit the Maremagnum shopping centre. Finish your visit with a flamenco show.
